Ashanti Shequoiya Doug, often referred to as Ashanti was born on October 13 on the 13th of October, 1980 in Glen Cove New York United States. She is a singer, songwriter from America and actor. Ashanti gained fame as when she was a teen. In 2002, she was signed to Murder Inc. Records. Ashanti appeared the same day as Fat Joe's What's Luv? And Fat Joe's What's Lulv? With Foolish and the track What's Luv being at number one She became the first woman to have two songs in the Billboard Hot 100 chart top 10 from the United States. The song What's Luv! Tina Douglas her mother is a former dance teacher and Ken-Kaide Thomas Douglas is her father. is a former vocalist. She is Kenashia's eldest brother. Douglas has named her in honour of the Ashanti Empire in Ghana where women held power and influence and Douglas was hoping for Ashanti to model that same pattern.
